"So disappointing! I requested a deep tissue massage of 120 minutes. The masseuse stroked like you would a cat! No attention to the feet at all, she covered them with the sheet and gave them a squeeze ha!! The room to change after had only a cheep plastic brush, luckily I brought my own and finally lots of EMPTY product bottles; hair spray, deodorant etc. the magnifying mirror light didn’t work 300 Euros. I booked a deep tissue the next day at a local massage place and got what I needed- at 1/3 the price. This ”Mayan” spa is a ripoff for tourists, even the tea served after was 1/2 a cup and Luke warm. AVOIDM"

Hands down the worst spa experience ever. My girlfriend and I booked a couple’s massage for Valentine’s Day, expecting a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. Instead, we got rudeness, a suffocatingly tiny space, and a complete waste of money.First off, the place is ridiculously small—more like a cramped closet than a spa. The moment you walk in, you’re hit with this awful, stale smell that lingers everywhere, making it impossible to relax. Honestly, it felt more like a neglected basement than a wellness retreat.Now, the staff. Where do I even begin? The massage therapists were incredibly rude and unprofessional. I decided to skip my massage and just let my girlfriend have hers, which apparently offended them to their core. Instead of accommodating like any decent business would, they were petty, dismissive, and passive-aggressive the entire time. My girlfriend, the one actually getting the massage, was treated like a nuisance rather than a paying customer. It was supposed to be a peaceful, intimate experience, but instead, it was an hour of dealing with bad attitudes and tension—exactly the opposite of what a spa visit should be.But the cherry on top? When it was time to pay, we had a couple of simple questions about the bill, and the staff’s condescending, snarky attitude was unbelievable. Instead of being helpful, they acted like we were stupid for even asking. No customer service, no professionalism—just eye-rolling and short, dismissive responses.This place is a total scam. Do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere that actually values its customers and understands what hospitality means. Avoid at all costs!"

"What a memorable experience! I went to the spa along with my husband on Valentines Day, and it was the best decision we made! It was very clear from the beginning, that the customer experience is a high key point to the company. The staff was so welcoming and had a great attention to details. This has now become out go-to spa for when we are in Barcelona! Thank you!"

The Mayan healing atmosphere is truly unique.I have a poor memory for names (I'm sorry for the lovely young lady who gave me my treatment) but I can say that I experienced the best massage I've ever had. "I hate to write a bad review, but this facial experience was absolutely terrible and I would hate for someone else to waste their money like I did. I had high hopes after reading great reviews here, but it was undoubtedly the worst facial I've had.The provider spent the large majority of the treatment cleaning up the room, (either repeatedly rinsing lukewarm towels to wipe my face with, arranging product, cleaning facial bowl, etc.) while leaving me to simply lie on the bed numerous times. This was an incredibly low touch experience, and the VERY minimal cleanse, exfoliation, mask, etc. was lackluster and abrupt. No steam, no massage, no hot towels, and not at all what I was expecting for a luxury spa. I was genuinely shocked at the lack of attention and skill. The treatment room was completely clean and reset before I even got up; she spent almost half of the time cleaning up or trying to find things in the cabinets. She also started 15 minutes late, which cut into and shortened the treatment time. Overall a highly disappointing experience."

"The customer service was great and the facility was clean and relaxing. Unfortunately, the massage therapist did not want to give me a deep tissue massage and was surprised I had booked an 80 minute deep tissue. She said “that’s very long!” I’m an athlete and teach intense fitness classes for a living and regularly book deep tissue and sports massages at luxury spas. The massage was definitely a Swedish massage despite my request. She then ended the massage early said that since I’m also getting a facial she would start the facial and then continue the massage for a bit when I turned to face up. The facial was great by the way, my face was glowing! However, I can’t help, but assume that the massage therapist didn’t have the skill, strength or desire to perform the 80 minutes deep tissue. As I left the front desk worker asked me to immediately rate the service on an ipad as the massage therapist stood watching and which was awkward. For the price I expect to receive the service I booked. I would never pay so much for someone to lightly stroke my back. The staff was very polite and kind and I might return for a facial, but not for a massage."

"I actually experienced their service at the Renaissance hotel where i stayed, not knowing i could have gone to their full spa at The Palace Hotel.I had the Tuukul massage. My therapist Alana was simply extraordinary! A combination of aroma therapy, sound therapy, acupressure, active stretching, and deep tissue massage, it was the best massage experience I've had and I've been to some of the most exclusive resorts."

"I definitely highly recommend The Mayan Luxury Spa. Alana and Marina were very welcoming and kind from the start and explained everything very well. The deep tissue massage provided by Marina was just perfect and she really takes your preferences into account. Moreover, the mexican sauna and chromatic shower with some relaxing time afterwards were a great addition as well in which they really have a great eye for detail.Overall it has been the most wonderful and relaxing experience and the Mayan aspects made it a really unique one."

"The hospitality and the massage itself were great but the spa experience was rushed and weird and unnecessary. The sauna is stunning but you're not allowed to just sit and relax in it. "I will start by mentioning that the look of the spa and the people working there are very polite and professional. However, I have to agree with the previous review. What the spa is implying is that the customer had issues with the gender of the therapists while that is absolutely not true. Next time, before you imply that your customers might be discriminating against your employees, make sure you have all facts correct.I (female) have received the massage by the male therapist, which also proves that what is written about my husband not ALLOWING him to touch me is not correct. We are very accepting and against any type of discrimination, so reading the Spa’s comment is appalling.Furthermore, even thou your business is highly ranked and liked by many, you should accept not to be to everyone’s liking and possible criticism.The fact is that the service IS OVERPRICED. Apart from it being done in one of the oldest and most luxurious hotels in Barcelona, nothing else is special. Those who had a chance to travel to the Yutacan region in Mexico would know that.We have no issues paying a premium, but the massage quality was simply missing.Hopefully, this will help whoever is considering your business!"

"The spa it self was not what I was expecting, knowing that it was located in a very posh hotel. I have arrived 10min early and nuobody was there to great me. The spa receptionist arrived late. I guess since she was late, I felt a bit rushed afterwards. The sauna itself was a bit disappointing as it’s not very hot, maybe because the gaps ant the door was so big it’s not holding the heat very well. The hydrotherapy shower was also very disappointing. I was excepting a proper light shower, but it was was just a normal shower with two spot lights in the ceiling. Not show how much of the benefit you can get out of quick shower session. And in terms of a massage (had 50min deep tissue) it was also disappointing. The therapist was quite loud making noises in the treatment room taking oils, banging cabinet door. Also she kept leaving me to take some more oil for the massage. The actual massage was not a deep tissue, it was quite abrupt and rushed. The relaxation area is super small. I have been to many spas before and I am massage therapist my self, paying 130€ for the experience I don’t think it’s worth it."

"I'm kinda shocked with this one, especially after reading the other reviews. Its so well advertised, listed as award winning etc etc. My girlfriend and I decided to treat ourselves, and took a 80 min couple massage. God, that was 80 min of gentle palming. We asked for something medium, and even during the massage asked for more pressure. I swear that was simply going over the body with hands without any effort to find any tense spots, stimulate muscles and all other things that massage is supposed to be. At one point it even became boring and i was about to sleep it thru. Yes, the place looks beautiful, and again, the staff is so nice, but this was 80 min cuddling for 420 EUROS! It's by far the priciest, and probably the least memorable massage we ever had. Both of us walked away with tense bodies and even more tense minds taking in consideration the price/quality. I still felt tired, and my back and legs were as tense as before the massage. They didn't touch our hands, face or stomach for 80 min at all! I even asked to pay special attention to neck and head. I'm not sure if the massages are poorly designed, or the employees are not massage therapists, but this has to be seriously addressed. I'm honestly shocked something like that is charged that much and feel kinda robbed. I understand for something to be expensive, specially in a luxury hotel, but damn it, you have to justify the price. It's realistically worth 1/4 of the price, for the atmosphere and some relaxation.EDIT: the spa replied and said the issue is I didnt let a guy massage my girlfriend. The male therapist DID massage my girlfriend, and that is what we asked for both when scheduling and when having the massage. Of course we are perfectly fine with that, so please dont bring up such funny comments which have nothing to do with my review. I spoke only and only about the qualify of the massage. Just funny and shows the level of (un)professionalism."

"A little disappointing.Not really what I would call a Spa. It had a changing room with a sauna that didn’t have a door, just a curtain so it didn’t really have the effect of a sauna.The ladies were lovely but facilities let it down. It was also very cold whilst having a massage.The massage was ok but nothing great. Still lots of tension as I left.We then went for dinner which is next door to the hotel with the spa package and this was terrible. Food cold, cold room and terrible service.I don’t like to leave bad reviews but I feel at £189 each for message you’d expect something better.We did stay at the hotel for 3 nights too and this was amazing. Definitely recommend the hotel just not the spa."
